It is an explanatory communication in speech and writing. An expository essay is an organized piece of content that explains a specific topic or set some ideas to a defined audience. Expository essay is required in exams or for standardized tests such as the SAT. They are also assignments composed outside of class.

 

Expository essays attempt to persuade the audience, but they are typically much shorter and based on limited research. For instance, in college courses, essay exams, questions or standardized tests are expository essays. The reason behind it is simple that the students have limited time to take the test that they take help with research proposal, and expository essays are often based on personal experience and evidence provided can remember offhand versus an organized research effort by students.
